Shanul Sharma

Shanul is fast becoming recognised as one of Melbourne’s most exciting young tenors. Born in India, Shanul launched his singing career as a heavy metal singer, fronting national tours and releasing three studio albums over a period of 8 years. Concurrently he explored classical singing as a stylistic expression and in late 2012 relocated to Melbourne to pursue this art form.

He made his operatic debut with Opera Australia’s Victorian Tour as ‘Don Ramiro’ in Rossini’s La Cenerentola and has since sung the roles of ‘Werther’ by Massenet and ‘Florville’ in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino.

Shanul has also been a featured soloist at several high profile concerts including ‘Opera in the Alps’, ‘Opera in the Market’, ‘Opera by the Lakes’ and ‘Opera in the Park’; and has shared the stage with some of Australia’s most successful artists including Marina Prior, Greta Bradman, Cheryl Barker, David Hobson, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and John Bolton Wood.

In September 2016 Shanul will relocate to Cardiff UK to complete an MA in Advanced Vocal Studies at the prestigious Wales International Academy of Voice.
