The list of artists on the program this year includes some Opera in the Market favourites, as well as a showcase opportunity for rising stars. Conductor Benjamin Northey joins us again, leading the much loved Opera in the Market chorus and Orchestra; brilliant flautist Jane Rutter will have us spellbound; tenor Roy Best, having launched a career as a singer following his success on ABC TV Operatunity will again lift our hearts; soprano Taryn Feibig makes her opera in the Market debut, joined by the Australian Music Events young scholar; and we are thrilled to welcome special guest Michael Long to sing an original composition for us. This year, the Royal Melbourne Hospital family celebrates 160 years of service to the Victorian community, a milestone of which we are immensely proud. We have a mission to provide excellence of care for all of our patients. In order to find cures for the apparently incurable, to heal hearts and minds, we must stay at the cutting edge of medical research nationally and internationally. We have over 680 research projects undertaken by the wider Melbourne Health system and there is always an urgent need for more funds. Opera in the Market is an integral part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital/Melbourne Health fundraising effort, and we thank our loyal guests, patrons and friends. |
