How it works
After a hugely successful debut in the 2011 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Opera in the Market will, once again, feature in the 2012 program.
Patrons will explore the Food and Wine Trial before the performance and during interval, as we throw open the pages of our living, breathing Melbourne-inspired cookbook.
Featuring iconic Melbourne restaurants and caterers, The Point Albert Park Lake, MoVida, Estelle Bar & Kitchen, St Katherine's and Fred and Ginger Catering.
The exquisite tasting plates on offer will be complemented with selected Victorian wines and microbrews.
Don't forget to take our guest chef's favourite recipes home with you.
Market Dollars: All tickets include $20 Market Dollars ('Festival Special' will receive $40 Market Dollars) that can be redeemed on the Food and Wine Trail.

MoVida
In 1975 Spanish dictator Franco died. After decades of his regime there suddenly erupted a spontaneous Spanish movement of art, film, music and fun, energetic youthful exuberance.
This movement was called "MoVida".

The Point Albert Park Lake is a Melbourne institution. Situated in the picturesque Albert Park Lake, The Point has received a host of accolades including the coveted 2 chefs hats for 2011 and 2012 as well as being voted Melbourne’s Best Steakhouse by Restaurant and Catering Victoria. At the helm of its success, is Executive Chef Justin Wise who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the restaurant.
At just 31 years of age, The Point’s Executive Chef, Justin Wise has a wealth of experience. Wise heads a highly skilled, dedicated team of chefs and brings unbridled passion and exceptional talent to The Point’s kitchen. His food philosophy mirrors that of The Point itself; a classical approach to food paired with bold, modern interpretations of the classics. Wise’s talents were recognised when he was awarded ‘Young Chef of the Year 2009’ by The Age Good Food Guide. Also, The Age Melbourne Magazine celebrated his abilities by naming him one of the four ‘Young Gun Chefs’ in Melbourne’s Top 100 Most Influential People. Wise brings his culinary experience to The Point’s kitchen where he gathers inspiration from quality produce and working with premium Australian meat.
Estelle Bar & Kitchen
Estelle Bar & Kitchen is the first venture between Chefs Scott Pickett adn Ryan Flaherty. A modest local eatery in the heart of Northcote where guests are offered a modern dining expereince in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests can choose from their own table, to a more relaxed experience at the bar or enjoy the intimate courtyards.
