Opera in the market choir

Every year since 1999, 100 voices have gathered together from all over Victoria to rehearse for four weeks in summer for the annual Opera in the Market event. The chorus is trained by Australian Music Events and members mostly belong to existing choirs. The program devised by Graeme and Margot Wall involves some of Australia’s leading performers with the chorus singing some of opera’s greatest choruses throughout the program.

Alpha Sinfonia was formed in 2010 by former Australian Pops Orchestra manager/entrepreneur David Ashton-Smith. This exciting new Melbourne Orchestra is made up of the cream of Melbourne’s  musicians, and also features at Opera in the Alps (Beechworth in January).
