Roy Best

ImageBilled as “exciting new Australian tenor” since his Operatunity Oz triumph, Roy came to national prominence after his televised performance of the Duke in Opera Australia’s Rigoletto at Sydney Opera House to an audience of over one million TV viewers.

In 2007 he featured with James Morrison and Marina Prior in the Opera in the Alps (Beechworth), Opera by the Lock (Mildura) and Opera in the Market (Melbourne). He recently performed in the Castlemaine Festival, Mozart’s Requiem at BMW Edge (Melbourne) and in the title role of Turiddu, in Melbourne Opera’s production of Cavalleria Rusticana, as well as concerts with the Australian Pops Orchestra.

Michael Long

ImageAs an athlete and community leader, Michael Long is an advocate for a united Australia.

Originally from the Tiwi Islands, he came to prominence as a remarkable footballer, representing Essendon for 13 years.

Today, he helps drive numerous community programs and is heavily sought as a keynote speaker and ambassador.

The Long Walk was an initiative of Michael’s in 2004 to walk from Melbourne to Canberra to meet Prime Minister John Howard.

The subsequent ‘anniversary’ symbolic Long Walk’s each year attracts thousands of people. The Long Walk annual calendar now involves the AFL’s Indigenous Round and Dreamtime at the ‘G game between Essendon and Richmond, a schools program, and a Long Walk Women’s Lunch.

In 2007 ‘Come Walk With Me’ was written by Long’s friend Chris Aitken and has recently been arranged by Tommy Tycho for orchestra and choir for Michael to perform at Opera by the Lock and Opera in the Market.

Taryn Fiebig

ImageTaryn Fiebig graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1993 with a Bachelor of Music in Cello performance.

In 1995 and 1996 she won scholarships to the Dartington International Summer School to studying with Emma Kirkby. Further study with Jane Manning was made via a Churchill Fellowship in 2000. She completed the Emerging Performers Programme at the Australian Opera Studio in 2003.

She has performed with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra for their popular Noël Noël Christmas concerts.

In 2005, Taryn joined Opera Australia's Young Artist Development Programme. In 2007 she sang Mabel , Tessa and principal roles in Rusalka and Il Trittico. In 2008 Taryn will sing at Opera in the Market followed by Eliza in Opera Australia’s My Fair Lady.

Jane Rutter

ImageJane attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School and was awarded a scholarship to study in Paris with Jean-Pierre Rampal.

Now one of Australia’s most brilliant and versatile flautists she is at home with classical, jazz or pop styles. All her albums have entered the FM pop charts.

As lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Jane formed the eclectic group "Posh" and toured extensively for Musica Viva. She has is a household name in Australia, having appeared on every major television variety and current affairs show, including 60 Minutes. At the 1992 Edinburgh Festival her one-woman show was nominated for a Fringe Award.

In 2005 ABC classics released "The Very Best of Jane Rutter" which reached number 1 on the ABC's best seller list. Jane recorded an all Gershwin album, Embraceable You with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in 2007.

Jane will appear in Opera in the Market in March 2008.
